Corrugated Box Manufacturer in India — Specification First, Price Second
Most buyers start by hunting for a corrugated box manufacturer in India. That is the wrong end of the problem. Get the specification right first and the supplier question mostly answers itself — including whether we are the right factory for you. This page gives you the spec logic, the cost breakdown and the eight questions worth asking any Indian box maker before you release a purchase order.

Step one
Specify the box, then shortlist the manufacturer
Three quotations for “a 5-ply box, 400 × 300 × 300 mm” can land 30% apart and every one of them can be honest. Ply describes how many layers of paper are glued together. It says nothing about how much paper is in each layer, how strong that paper is, or which flute sits between the liners. Those are the variables that decide both your price and whether the bottom carton in a stack of eight holds its shape after two days in a warehouse.
So the useful enquiry is not “what is your rate”. It is “here is my product weight, my journey and my stack height — what construction do you recommend, and at what BF”. A manufacturer who answers that with numbers is worth talking to. One who answers “don’t worry sir, best quality” is guessing, and you will find out where the guess was wrong at your customer’s receiving dock.
| Packed weight | Typical journey | Construction we would recommend | Kraft grade | Closure & extras |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Under 1 kg | Courier, single leg, no stacking | 3-ply, E or B flute — or a mailer box | ~120–150 GSM liners, 16–18 BF | Self-locking, no tape needed |
| 1–5 kg | E-commerce despatch, one or two handovers | 3-ply B flute RSC carton, or bottom-lock for speed | ~150 GSM, 18–20 BF | BOPP tape; bottom-lock cuts packing time per unit |
| 5–15 kg | Road transit, stacked 4–6 high | 5-ply, B/C flute combination | ~180 GSM, 20–24 BF | Stitched or glued; layer pads between rows |
| 15–30 kg | Palletised, forklift handling, multi-leg | 5-ply high-BF, C flute | ~200–250 GSM, 24–28 BF | Stitched + PP strapping; angle board on corners |
| 30 kg and above | Export, machinery, spares, long haul | 7-ply, A/B or B/C flute | ~250–300 GSM, 28–35 BF | Stitched, strapped, on a wooden pallet or timber case |
| Fragile, any weight | Anything with glass, electronics, painted surfaces | Ply set by weight, plus a die-cut insert or partition | As above for the outer | Bubble roll or EPE foam; foam for polished surfaces |
If you want the reasoning behind the ply column rather than just the recommendation, the 3-ply vs 5-ply vs 7-ply comparison goes deeper, and the complete guide to corrugated boxes in India covers flute profiles, board grades and testing in one place.
Step two
What you are actually paying for in a corrugated box
Nobody in this trade publishes a national rate card, because the largest input moves constantly. Kraft paper is a commodity — reel prices shift with pulp, waste-paper imports, coal and freight — which is why a serious quotation carries a validity date instead of a permanent promise.
Roughly how a per-piece price splits on a plain 5-ply carton at moderate volume is shown alongside. The proportions matter more than the rupees: because paper dominates, the biggest saving available to you is almost never a harder negotiation. It is a better-fitting box that uses less board, or a liner grade honestly matched to the job instead of over-specified out of caution.
Reel arithmetic is the part most buyers never see. If you want to check a quotation yourself, the kraft paper reel weight formula shows how board consumption is calculated from your box dimensions.
Approximate split on a plain 5-ply carton. Printed die-cut work and very short runs redistribute this heavily toward tooling. Worked examples: price per piece and industrial carton rates.
Step three
Eight questions to ask any corrugated box manufacturer in India
Use these on us as well. They separate factories from firms that buy finished board, print a logo on it and forward your order — and the difference only shows up on your third re-order, when consistency starts to matter more than the first quotation did.
Do you own the corrugator, or do you buy board?
A good answer names the flute profiles they can run in-house. A firm that buys board cannot change your flute when a consignment keeps arriving crushed.
What GSM and BF are you quoting on each liner?
Numbers, per layer. “Good quality kraft” is not a specification and cannot be checked at goods inward.
Will you give me the specification in writing against a box code?
Yes, with the paper grade recorded. This is what stops a re-order drifting lighter six months later while the price stays the same.
What do you test, and on every batch or on samples?
Bursting strength, edge crush and dimensional accuracy at minimum. Ask whether they can issue the record if your own quality system needs it, and whether independent lab testing is available to them.
How do you handle a mid-contract paper price movement?
An honest supplier explains the mechanism. One who promises a fixed price for a year has either built in a large cushion or will come back to renegotiate.
How fast is a physical sample?
Ours goes out same-day, because the plant and the sampling table are in the same building. A sample settles fit arguments that no email thread can.
Can I walk the plant?
A factory says yes. If a visit keeps getting deferred, you are probably dealing with an office. Our Adityapur unit is open to buyers by appointment, and our technical head S.B. Pandey — 22 years on the corrugation floor — will sit with your product rather than a rate card.
Who is my contact after the first order is delivered?
A named person, not a sales number. Repeat supply lives or dies on whether someone at the plant remembers your box.
Worth doing this on more than one supplier. We keep a comparison of top packaging companies in Jharkhand and a wider survey of the best corrugated carton box manufacturers in east India, and we would rather you shortlisted with real information than picked us blind.
Step four
Why India has no national corrugated box supplier — and why that helps you
Do the freight maths once and the structure of this industry becomes obvious. A 5-ply carton measuring 400 × 300 × 300 mm weighs around half a kilo and occupies 36 litres. Load a 32-foot trailer with those and you hit the volume limit long before you get anywhere near the weight limit — you are paying to move air in a paper wrapper.
This is why corrugated packaging stays a regional trade while almost everything else consolidated nationally. A plant 900 km away has to beat your local supplier by a margin that freight then eats immediately. It is also why any manufacturer claiming genuine pan-India box supply is either quoting ex-works and letting you discover the transport cost later, or sub-contracting to a plant near you and adding a layer of margin for the privilege.
We supply eastern India from Adityapur and say so plainly. Inside this corridor we are competitive on both price and lead time. Outside it, we will usually tell you to buy closer to home.
Jharkhand
Our home state — steel, auto ancillary and coal-belt despatch, where the heaviest specifications go.
Bihar
Food processing, distribution and a fast-growing online seller base around the capital.
West Bengal & Odisha
Port-facing export packing, engineering clusters and retail distribution.
Background on how these clusters formed: evolution of the Indian packaging industry, the packaging industry in West Bengal, jobs and growth in Jharkhand, and on the demand side, Jharkhand mein online business ka boom.
Where we fit
The plant, in plain figures
Aarisha Packaging Solutions Pvt Ltd has run a corrugation unit at Adityapur Industrial Area since February 2012. Kraft reel to finished carton happens under one roof: corrugation, creasing, slotting, die-cutting, flexo printing, stitching and gluing. We are not a trading house with a catalogue.
The unit turns out around 5 lakh boxes a month — roughly 60 lakh a year. That figure matters more to a procurement team than any adjective on this page, because it tells you whether your order can be absorbed without displacing somebody else’s delivery date. A monthly requirement of a few thousand cartons sits comfortably inside a normal week here.
We hold membership no. 311 of the Eastern India Corrugated Box Manufacturers’ Association, the regional trade body founded in 1972 and affiliated to the Federation of Corrugated Box Manufacturers of India. Membership is not a quality mark on its own, but it does put us inside the association’s R&D and testing network in Kolkata — which is where independent bursting strength, Cobb and box compression figures come from when a buyer wants a third-party number rather than ours.
Alongside boxes we supply the consumables that finish a packing line, so you are not running three vendor accounts for one operation — shrink wrap, corrugated rolls, duplex cartons, interlocking and self-ejecting boxes, universal boxes, pizza boxes — plus the strapping machines that apply the strap. Frequently asked
Corrugated box buying questions, answered straight
Who is the best corrugated box manufacturer in India?
There is no single national answer, and any page claiming otherwise is selling rather than informing. Because empty cartons cost more to transport than to make, the best manufacturer for you is almost always a competent factory inside your own freight radius. Judge candidates on whether they own the corrugator, whether they will state GSM and BF per liner, and whether they let you visit. For buyers in Jharkhand, Bihar, West Bengal and Odisha, we are one of those candidates.
What is the minimum order quantity for corrugated boxes?
Ours starts at 500 pieces and scales past 50,000, with per-unit rates improving as volume rises. Printed die-cut work carries a higher practical minimum than plain cartons, because the die and printing plates have to be spread across the run. At the other end, monthly output of around 5 lakh boxes means a large recurring requirement does not have to queue behind existing orders.
How is the price per box calculated?
Board area from your dimensions, multiplied by paper cost at the GSM and BF chosen for each layer, plus conversion, printing, tooling spread over the quantity, wastage and freight. Paper alone is usually 55–70% of it. The price calculator gives an indicative figure and this breakdown works through the variables.
How long does production take?
Three to five working days for plain cartons, five to seven for printed or die-cut work, with same-day dispatch on pre-approved specifications. Repeat orders move fastest because the reel grade and die already exist. Despatch terms are on our shipping and delivery policy.
Can I get a sample before committing to an order?
Yes, and you should. Samples go out the same day because sampling happens in the plant, not through a third party. Buyers within reach of Jamshedpur are welcome to see the line running — meeting a packaging expert before ordering tends to prevent a wasted production run.
How do I know I am buying from a factory and not a reseller?
Ask which flute profiles they run in-house, ask for the box specification in writing against a code, and ask to visit. A reseller can answer the first question vaguely and will avoid the third. All three are in the eight-question list higher up this page. Registration also helps: our CIN is U21000JH2012PTC000241 under ROC Ranchi, and our EICMA membership number is 311.
Do you supply packaging materials as well as boxes?
Yes — tape, PP strapping, bubble roll, EPE foam, shrink film, angle board, layer pads and pallets ship on the same invoice as your cartons. If you are setting up a packing operation from scratch, start with types and uses of packaging materials, then practical packaging tips and, for online sellers, the best materials for e-commerce.
Where can I read the technical detail?
